About Us

Hello, my name is Susan Raisty-Egami and I run Sure Web Consulting.  We’re a boutique consulting firm that empowers small businesses to take control of their destiny on the web and in social media.

How did we get started?

Well, Sure Web Consulting grew out of my other company, Sure Product Consulting, which focuses on product management and product marketing consulting for software companies.

At Sure Product Consulting, as a consultant and self-interested entrepreneur looking to improve my own business, I learned about many cool software products and online services that can help entrepreneurs. And I don’t mean “cool” as in “technology for technology’s sake.” I mean “cool” as in really, genuinely useful — services and software, much of it free or very low cost, that can help the non-technical entrepreneur grow his/her business and run it much more effectively. In fact, due to a convergence of market and technology trends, in the year 2010 there is very little reason for a large company to have a technological advantage over a small entrepreneurial concern.

But while I knew about these great tools and services, it seemed that not many other small business owners did.  Many were overwhelmed and ignoring the web and social media altogether.  On the other extreme, many were spending huge amounts of time on Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn and their websites without clear goals or an understanding about HOW or WHY to do these activities effectiently.  And across the board, business owners were still throwing away thousands of dollars on web designers and consultants who did very little for them, yet these business owners were completely dependent on them.

It doesn’t have to be this way.  You can take control of your own web destiny.  You can take control of Facebook, Twitter, your website, your blog, etc…. so that it drives business results for you and doesn’t take up a inordinate amount of your time.  And you can do these things your self.  But you have to be smart about it.  And we’re here to help you develop these smarts.

In this blog, I’ll share with my fellow small business owners what I’ve learned about using all these great technology products and services to improve your business.

Much of it might be new to you. The old rules you’ve learned are gone. For example, you might think it takes tens of thousands of dollars to get a great-looking, interactive, website operating, plus a full-time geek to maintain it.

Well, that was true in 2003. In 2008, this can be done for less than $250, and if you are able to use Yahoo! Mail then you’ll be able to create, deploy, and maintain this website all by yourself (no geek needed).
